Bahrain is the latest country to embrace the blockchain. It will soon be launching its Blockchain Academy to assist with the increasing demand for skilled blockchain experts.
Knowledge is power, especially when it comes to innovative technology. Having well-versed experts in a certain field could be what gives certain countries a competitive edge over others. And, in this revolutionary age of disruptive technology, competition is rife.
Bahrain Bets Big on Blockchain
The Middle Eastern country of Bahrain seems to be encouraging expertise with blockchain through its latest initiative. The Bahrain Institute of Banking and Finance (BIBF) has advised through their website that they will be introducing their Blockchain Academy, which, through a range of masterclasses and workshops, will be the country’s first Blockchain Professional Qualification Programme.
In order to make the project a success, the BIBF has partnered with myLearning Key, a training provider based in Dubai. The latter will facilitate a five-day programme to assist participants in achieving their Certified Blockchain Professional C|BP qualification. This will be awarded by the Institute of IIB Council, which, according to their site, was “created to train and certify business professionals on knowledge, technical and digital skills that are highly demanded in the job market.”
Blockchain technology is, of course, one of these skills. It is being used in a variety of industries and is no longer reserved just for virtual currencies. It has been implemented in the healthcare sector, the art industry, and is used in a range of financial applications and solutions.
The Director of the BIBF, Dr. Ahmed Al Shaikh, discussed the initiative a bit more, saying:
In alignment with the institute’s direction to position Bahrain as the IT Hub for training in the region and to adapt to market requirements, the BIBF continues to introduce new programmes to develop the skills and knowledge of the Kingdom’s human capital. As we live in the era of digital innovation and technological advancements today, we are pleased to collaborate with myLearning Key and the IIB Council to introduce the first Blockchain Professional Qualification to support the growing demand for skilled blockchain professionals.
Growing the Industry in the Middle East
It is hoped that this new venture will assist businesses in the country to take their companies to the next level. Ahmed Naeemi, who is the Head of IT, Operations, and Project Management, explained:
As the role of information technology is evolving towards digital innovation and transformation, the Blockchain Academy is one of our new initiatives in an attempt to support businesses and organisations with their digital transformation plans.
The program is set to launch in January next year. Participants can look forward to learning about real-world applications of blockchain technology. The course will consist of three sections: development, implementation, and strategy.
