Bitcoin Will Soon be Accepted at Luxury Jewelry Stores in Canada

Yet another brand has begun accepting Bitcoin as a payment method. This time we’re in Canada, the home of luxury jewelry brand, Birks Group.

While the markets may be angry, cryptocurrencies still hold a strong allure for businesses looking to be a part of the financial revolution. This can be seen by how many companies are starting to accept virtual currencies, specifically Bitcoin, as a medium of exchange for their goods and services. The latest to join that list is Birks Group, a luxury jewelry brand based in Canada.

Bitcoin Shines Bright Like a Diamond

According to Business Wire, the brand will be working with BitPay to ensure that their crypto customers can easily put a ring on it this Christmas. The President and CEO of Birks Group, Jean-Christophe Bédos, shared his excitement at the partnership:

It is of great significance to Birks Group to launch BitPay. As an internationally growing brand, we believe that BitPay will benefit our customers as we look to align ourselves with these innovative capabilities that are on the forefront of technology.

BitPay’s Chief Commercial Officer, Sonny Singh, touched on how the brand’s new direction will positively affect the group’s customer base:

Birks Group has a large number of international shoppers so allowing them to pay in bitcoin makes perfect sense. Accepting bitcoin helps Birks Group to cater to their high-end international clients and get new customers while providing an innovative and safe payment option.

Birks Group will initially be introducing this payment option to eight of its stores, including one in the major city of Vancouver.

Acceptance Appears to be on the Increase

Canada is, of course, no stranger to disruptive technology. From providing the ideal environment for mining operations to using blockchain for its Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), the country appears to show that they’re fully on board the revolution train.

The brand joins another jeweler in accepting Bitcoin as payment. Live Bitcoin News previously reported that Marks Jewelers in the U.S. is also allowing their customers to pay in a variety of cryptocurrencies. You could even pay for a brand-new car with crypto at a luxury dealership in Texas, also facilitated through BitPay.

If you go further afield to France, you could even pay for your university tuition in Bitcoin. Why not buy some bitcoins with your tobacco? Some French tobacco stores will begin offering crypto vouchers which you can purchase and redeem for virtual currency.

Do you think more jewelers in the country will also begin accepting crypto as payment? Let us know in the comments below!
