Buy Bitcoin for a Dollar at Walmart, But There’s a Catch!

Walmart to Use IBM’s Blockchain Solution for Food Traceability

You can buy Bitcoin at Walmart for a single dollar, but the catch is that it’s actually a chocolate candy.

Those that got into Bitcoin early on have had their faith handsomely rewarded. In early 2011, you could buy a single BTC for a dollar. The coin then shot up to $13 by the end of 2012. Last year, the world’s number one cryptocurrency hit an all-time high of nearly $20,000. Now it’s currently trading for $7,188. While those early days are long gone, you can actually still buy a Bitcoin for a dollar, but there’s a catch.

Rollback Prices!

The catch of buying a Bitcoin for a dollar is a tasty one, especially if you like chocolate. Walmart is currently selling chocolate bitcoins for a dollar at their stores. In fact, you get six bitcoins for one George Washington.

The chocolate candy is manufactured by Frankford Candy & Chocolate Company, who are based in Philadelphia. The company is very successful and one of the biggest manufacturers of chocolate rabbits in the United States. Every Easter, families buy some of their over 100 chocolate rabbit varieties. Now they’ve released a cryptocurrency confection that should get Bitcoin enthusiasts eager to get a sugar rush.

Chocolate Crypto Candy

The Bitcoin chocolates are sold six per bag at Walmart. The overall weight is 1.48 ounces (or 42 grams), and the product number is # 568259618. While you can look the candy up online, you cannot order it. You’ll have to visit your local Walmart to pick some up.

The chocolate coins were first spotted by Reddit user TheKayleMain. Needless to say, the discovery of this sweet crypto delight has generated quite a bit of discussion on Reddit. Here are some of the more humorous observations:

Now this is the dip I’ve been waiting for!

Whitepaper for Alt-candies coming up…

Can’t wait for the forked dark chocolate one.

Dark chocolate is the real chocolate Satoffee wanted.

Curious to know what their doge coins will be made out of

Coinbase would be selling these at $1.10

Personally, my favorite comments are those bringing up Bitcoin Cash. Sadly, it does not appear that every Walmart currently has these chocolate coins in stock. My local store does not, but they may become more prevalent the closer it gets to Halloween.
