In more darknet news, various Chemical Love vendors have been officially charged with drug trafficking. Albeit the distribution of narcotics is nothing new on the deep web, the number of arrests continues to mount over the recent months. Even though these vendors were arrested almost half a year ago, it took German government officials until earlier this week to file formal charges.
Chemical Love Darknet Vendors Face Official Charges
About six months ago, German law enforcement agencies arrested several vendors who were active on the Chemical Love darknet marketplace. At that time, it was believed some of the arrested individuals were owners and administrators of the platform. However, it took several months before official charges were filed.
Even though significant amounts of drugs were confiscated during these raids, it remained unclear how the case would evolve further. Interestingly enough, there were five people arrested during these police raids. However, the official charges induct six individuals for running the Chemical Love darknet forum.
What is even more interesting to note is how the arrested people are aged between 21 and 61 years old. This goes to show selling and distributing narcotics can be done at any age, and the darknet is easy enough to understand by both young and older users. In a rather surprising turn of events, the 61-year old individual is a former national football player, and he has been under investigation for investment fraud since 2013.
During the raid, police officials confiscated large amounts of narcotics. With nearly 45 kilograms of amphetamine, over 1.4kg of cocaine, and 4158 LSD strips – among other things – this was a major success for German law enforcement officials. However, they had to make sure enough evidence was collected to indict all individuals associated with running this platform.
Two of the individuals have pleaded guilty to these charges, whereas others remain very tight lipped regarding their involvement in Chemical Love. It will be interesting to see how this situation evolves in the coming months, as this trial is expected to take some time. With charges ranging from drug trafficking to conspiracy and everything in between, there are a lot of details that need to be ironed out.
