Circle Encourages Industry Diversity Through Education with Updated App

Circle, the finance platform, has recently launched a new addition to their app – an education feature to encourage more people to be a part of the industry.

Gender diversity and inclusion initiatives have experienced a massive increase in the world, as it should. It’s not just about protesters demanding equal pay either. It’s also about companies finally realizing that women play an integral part in our society.

Circle to Increase Diversity

While cryptocurrency and even blockchain are rightly seen as a disruptive technology, this doesn’t seem to translate into the gender demographics of the people who use it. According to TechCrunch, a recent survey by Circle showed just how wide the gap is. The results show that come next year, 18% of millennial men hope to invest in crypto, while only 7% of females are interested.

However, it’s not just a gender gap. It’s a generational one as well. The study involved over 3,000 U.S. participants including millennials, Gen Xers, and Baby Boomers. An example is that one in four millennials are interested in buying crypto over the next year, which is more than 10 times as much as Baby Boomers.

The Circle team wants to change this by making the crypto industry more diverse in terms of both gender and age. They believe that this can be done through education that is both easy to access as well as understand. While there is, of course, a comprehensive range of learning materials online, some of them do not really cater to those who don’t understand the industry. The platform’s head of product, Divya Agarwalla, explained:

A lot of the apps that exist on the market are geared toward folks that understand the market already and unfortunately, that tends to be men.

Education is Key

This is why Circle had added a new feature to its Circle Invest app. Its aim is to educate users about the industry with some simple explainers including The Origins of Crypto and Beyond Bitcoin.

The platform’s new initiative comes after the Swiss Crypto Valley Association (CVA) announced that it would be electing two female board members to join its all-male line-up.

Circle’s CEO, Jeremy Allaire, had previously said that virtual currencies would replace their fiat counterparts in the future. If this is true, people all over the world should understand how cryptocurrencies work, something that Circle seems to be making a priority with their new feature.
