Things are coming together nicely for the Bitcoin Cash community. Not only is BCH of great interest to investors, but more services become available as time progresses. A new wallet supporting BCH is currently available. Handcash supports regular and NFC-based transactions, which is rather interesting. Although the wallet is still in beta, Android users are welcome to check out this application.
Bringing more functionality to Bitcoin Cash is always a positive development. Alternative currencies deserve a bigger spotlight than they have gotten up until now. Handcash will certainly shake things up a bit as far as BCH is concerned. It is the first mobile wallet supporting NFC transactions. Whether or not anyone will use this functionality, remains to be seen, though. The opportunities with NFC are virtually limitless and can lead to some interesting developments over time.
A Different Type of Bitcoin Cash Wallet
It is worth noting this BCH wallet is still in public beta as we speak. It is also only available to Android users as of right now. Apple doesn’t like it when other companies use its native NFC technology. This makes it doubtful Handcash will effectively come to iOS with the same functionality. With NFC, Bitcoin Cash transactions can be completed in a matter of seconds. This is how cryptocurrency transactions should work by default.
For the Bitcoin Cash community, this news comes at an interesting time. The altcoin’s value has surged this week, even though it’s currently down a tad compared to 24 hours ago. Even so, developers are clearly intent on supporting this cryptocurrency in the future. Using NFC for BCH transactions may become a lot more popular than people think. The wallet also makes use of usernames, Rather than regular wallet addresses. Known as cashtags, this feature is linked to one’s phone ID, rather than an actual wallet address.
It will be interesting to see how people respond to Handcash. More cryptocurrency-related wallets can only be considered to be a good thing. Competition in this ecosystem will lead to interesting new features such as NFC payments in this regard. For now, it is not possible to use the wallet with mainnet BCH coins. Instead, it uses testnet currency until the wallet is stable enough. When that will happen exactly, remains unknown at this time.
