Maybe Craig Wright Isn’t Satoshi Nakamoto After all!

The news media outlets across the world have been having a field today, chasing behind whom they thought to be the real Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin. According to the reports carried by few major ‘reputable’ news outlets announced that Craig Steven Wright is the real Satoshi Nakamoto.

How did they come to this conclusion?

Going by what was reported by these news outlets, Craig Wright allegedly gave a presentation to few select news channels and a couple of personalities from the Bitcoin industry where he demonstrated that he is actually the real Satoshi Nakamoto whom everyone has been searching for from the past 8 years.

The demonstration was in the form of a cryptographic key, which Craig Wright used to digitally sign messages. These cryptographic keys were supposed to be the ones linked to few initial blocks of bitcoin mined by Satoshi Nakamoto, used in the very first transaction of 10 bitcoins sent to Hal Finney in January 2009.

Giving more credibility to the news report was Gavin Andresen’s blog, in which he cryptically mentions that he could draw comparisons with Craig Wright and Satoshi Nakamoto, with whom he had the privilege of interacting few years ago.

However, the cryptocurrency has something entirely different to say. According to those who tried to verify the cryptographic key, they are not the same as one of the keys inside the transaction executed by Satoshi Nakamoto and doesn’t prove anything else.

Now it seems like everything is back to square one, with the tech community not believing a word about Craig Wright being Satoshi Nakamoto and rest of the publications who didn’t jump the gun earlier, now taking advantage of the reversed situation.

In the end, who is the real Satoshi Nakamoto? The question still remains…
