Ripple Community Launches Petition to get XRP on Coinbase

Coinbase will add a few more cryptocurrencies over the coming years. The only question is which those will be and when the addition happens. Right now, the Ripple community hopes to get XRP listed on this platform. To do so, they started a petition on Change.org. Such campaigns will hardly ever work, though, but it shows an interesting sentiment regardless. Given the number of people already signing the petition, there may be some success in the long run.

It is no secret Coinbase wants to add more cryptocurrencies. They may not do so on their own account, though. More specifically, the company is looking to hire additional engineers to make this happen. It will require a lot of effort to support other currencies. Giving developers an option to contribute is a smart idea. However, the company should focus on the top cryptocurrencies automatically, rather than wait for help. There are some currencies which clearly need more fiat currency gateways right now.

XRP on Coinbase may Become a Thing

XRP is not necessarily a currency on that list. However, Ripple’s asset can always use more liquidity from any source. If this asset were to be listed on Coinbase, things can get pretty exciting rather quickly. While the Change.org petition may not help much, it’s an interesting initiative. After all, it shows the community genuinely wants to see this happen in the future. Their request may still fall on deaf ears, though.

Surprisingly, a lot of people signed the petition already. With over 9,000 signatures, the support seems rather genuine. Even with 10,000 signatures, not much will happen, though. Coinbase has acknowledged they can’t do everything on their own. It will require some enthusiast developers to help the company in this regard. XRP is very different from most cryptocurrencies, that much is evident. Whether or not this integration will ever happen, remains to be seen.

The community seems to like this initiative, though. One thing less appreciated is how the organizers of the campaign only accepts BTC donations. An interesting decision, to say the very least. It is not obligated to make a donation whatsoever, though. Petitions very rarely enforce any major change whatsoever. This applies to any aspect of life, unfortunately, and is especially true in the world of cryptocurrency. It will be interesting to see how things play out in this regard.
