Sofia Crypto Meetup Launches Two-Week Bitcoin Billboard Campaign

LBN Bitcoin Billboard

Promoting bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies is of the utmost importance if we this trend is to gain any mainstream traction. The Bulgarian bitcoin community has taken it upon themselves to have a billboard in Sofia display bitcoin advertisements over the coming two weeks. Considering this venture is entirely self-funded, it will be interesting to see how it affects bitcoin adoption in Bulgaria.

A Bitcoin Billboard Creates Tons of Exposure

It has to be said, this initiative is quite interesting. Although it is not the first time billboards will show advertisements related to bitcoin, such a venture has never been undertaken in Bulgaria. That is rather strange, considering the country is well open to bitcoin and cryptocurrency by the look of things. Starting today, the billboard near to the Vasil Levski Stadium in Sofia will display bitcoin ads for the next two weeks.

It is unclear how much the local Bitcoin community paid for this effort, though. Billboard advertising does not come cheap by any means. Then again, the effort is entirely self-funded, and it appears there is even a bitcoin contest associated with this initiative as well. To be more specific, anyone who takes a photo of the bitcoin billboard in Sofia and shares it on Facebook will get a small amount of bitcoin. That is, assuming one is among the first 50 people to share such a picture.

Initiatives like these will go a long way when it comes to actively promoting the use of bitcoin, that much is certain.Promoting bitcoin and why it matters is of the utmost importance as of right now. A lot of people remain unaware of bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, even though they have multiple advantages compared to other financial means. Although it remains to be seen how successful this campaign will be, it is quite interesting to take note of, to say the least.

One thing the bitcoin world needs more of is educational efforts like these to promote the use of cryptocurrencies as a whole. While most consumers may not be looking for alternative payment solutions as of right now, that does not mean they should not be made aware of what is out there. Bitcoin is playing an increasing role of importance all over the world, and Bulgaria is a good region to start promoting such efforts moving forward. We can only hope to see people successfully create a buzz on social media regarding this event in the future.
