The world now stands at a stage where financial literacy and education is not complete without the mention of bitcoin. The increased adoption of bitcoin makes it practical to include bitcoin as one of the payment option along with cards, cash.

Bitcoin is currently at a stage where debit and credit cards were few decades ago. At the time when most of the transactions used to happen either with cash or checks, electronic payment options made a grand entry. Businesses took some time to integrate the option to accept payment by cards along with the existing ones. Now almost all businesses, big and small accept card payments. Similarly, the time will come when all businesses will start accepting bitcoin payments.

But, in order for the world to reach that stage, it is necessary for the current and the upcoming generations to learn about bitcoin and how it can be used. This process is being made easier by those universities and colleges who have opened up their campuses to bitcoin. There are many such universities and a Sao Paulo, Brazil based university as now become one of them.

The Faculty of Informatics and Management Paulista (FIAP) has included bitcoin as an option for payments towards selected courses. The courses currently eligible for bitcoin payments at FIAP are those which are part of the university’s Shift program. In addition, the university will also be playing host to a bitcoin ATM. The bitcoin ATM will be supplied by CoinBR, a bitcoin startup.

Bitcoin payments accepted by FIAP will be processed by PagCoin, a local bitcoin payment processor. The Shift program includes short term courses focused towards entrepreneurship, innovation, project management and technology which makes it a good fit for bitcoin.
