BitCart No Longer Supports Bitcoin, Switches to Dash Instead

Interesting things are occurring in the world of Bitcoin right now. Bitcart, a company well-known for supporting Bitcoin through thick and thin, made a shocking announcement. As of this week, the platform will no longer accept Bitcoin payments. Instead, the company switched to become Dash-only. That is a rather remarkable step. Then again, we can thank the mounting transaction fees for this decision.

BitCart Feels Dash is The Right Way Forward

In this world of “competing” cryptocurrencies, choosing Dash over Bitcoin would make little sense to most companies. While it is true Bitcoin’s transaction fees are problematic, there are other viable alternatives. Many people would expect Litecoin to take Bitcoin’s place, but that is not always the case.In the case of BitCart, the company switched to Dash only. This is an interesting decision by the discount gift card platform, to say the least.

However, the mounting Bitcoin transaction fees are not the only reason for this switch.BitCart claims Bitcoin orders sometimes took up to three weeks to process. It is unclear how the company arrives that that odd number, though. Dash’s InstantSend feature should prevent such delays from occurring. Interestingly enough, since removing Bitcoin support, BitCart has seen an increase in demand. That indicates the decision was a smart one for the company. However, Dash is much more of a niche market than Bitcoin is, and it remains to be seen if this decision works out in the long run.

Graham de Barra, CEO of BitCart, stated the following:

“Dash is by far the best e-commerce token in the world and it completely solves the instant transaction and settlement problems bitcoin currently faces. Since we integrated Dash six weeks ago, we haven’t had a single problem. Dash is so easy to use from both a consumer and merchant perspective and since we disabled bitcoin, demand for BitCart has gone through the roof. Dash can handle an incredibly high volume of transactions; in fact, there doesn’t seem to be a limit, and every order is seamless.”

It is not the last time we will see service providers give alternative currencies a chance. Bitcoin’s transaction fees and confirmation delays have been problematic for some time now. It is possible these issues will be alleviated come August 1st, when the UASF is scheduled to activate. Still, switching to Dash over Litecoin or even Ethereum seems like a very bold decision. It will be interesting to see how things fare for BitCart moving forward.
