- Bitget joins UNICEF to bridge the global youth digital skills gap.
- UNICEF, Bitget launch first blockchain course for underserved young learners.
- Partnership targets 1.1 million girls with blockchain education by 2027.
Crypto exchange Bitget has announced a landmark three-year partnership with UNICEF Luxembourg to enhance digital skills and blockchain literacy among young people worldwide. This collaboration is a critical step towards shrinking the digital divide and providing the next generation with information that is befitting the future.
Bitget Academy to Co-Create First UNICEF Blockchain Program
As part of the agreement, Bitget has become a member of the UNICEF Game Changers Coalition (GCC), an ambitious initiative that the UNICEF Office of Innovation leads. This partnership is aimed at reaching 300,000 people (adolescent girls, parents, teachers and mentors) in eight countries including Armenia, Brazil, Cambodia, India, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Morocco and South Africa. The Coalition supported by Bitget plans to expand into the ninth country as well.
The alliance comes at the time when the online excellence is an essential requirement of economic development. According to the United Nations Children Fund, 90 % of existing job positions require the skill of digitalization. However, in most cases, these fundamental resources have not been available to many young people particularly the adolescent girls in low and middle-income countries. Every year, virtually 15 billion dollars of economic opportunities are lost due to the lack of internet access and lack of digital literacy; the problem that the new wrapped collaboration aims to address.
Based on Bitget’s educational arm, Bitget Academy, the exchange will co-create the very first interactive UNICEF blockchain training program. The module will be deployed on the web and offline and will also carry modules that inculcate knowledge on the process of creating video games to attract young learners as well as teachers. The creative development focuses on the increased interaction in learning systems with the concept of rolling the technological power.
Bitget, UNICEF Aim to Educate 1.1M Girls by 2027
Sandra Visscher, Executive Director of UNICEF Luxembourg, emphasized the shared vision behind the partnership. She added that digital skills are a great source of opportunity and inclusion. In association with Bitget, there is an aim to empower the youth with knowledge and bit of confidence to create their future.
As a further development, Bitget will invite UNICEF to a range of high-flying blockchain developers and protocols in the Web3 ecosystem. The contributors may become the program mentors and partners who bring new perspectives and technical knowledge to the process.
Gracy Chen (the CEO of Bitget) pointed to wider scope of the enterprise. She added that all people should have access to the emerging technologies instead of those in privileged positions. Blockchain she concluded can be a force of social good and can transform society. She cited the example of Blockchain4Her, an initiative launched by Bitget with the aim of empowering women.
Bitget started the Blockchain4Her program to support women through mentorship, investment, and training. The new UNICEF collaboration, with the help of this 10 million dollar initiative, will enhance the digital literacy level and financial independence of young women.
Bitget, in collaboration with UNICEF Luxembourg, is developing a scalable and inclusive model to equip the young generation with knowledge of the digital economy. As one of the Game Changers Coalition members, Bitget will work with other important partners such as the Global Video Game Coalition, Women in Games and Micron Foundation toward the same vision to reach 1.1 million girls by 2027.
This alliance is synonymous with the increasing international effort aimed at making the idea of digital transformation available to all the people, especially young people because they are the ones to lead the future.
