Paraná introduces a blockchain-based vehicle passport to prevent ownership fraud by verifying mileage and accelerating ownership transfer through secure tokenization.
The big breakthrough is starting to take form in the state of Paraná. Governments are building a digitized Vehicle Passport, which is blockchain-powered. The usage of unreliable vehicle documentation and mileage fraud is the target of this effort.
The initiative is being led by Tecpar, which is the Paraná Institute of Technology. They joined forces with Banco BV and Detran-PR.
Together, they plan to produce an online token for each car. It is a token that provides all important data in an immutable blockchain network.
The car mileage, ownership, maintenance, and financing information of each car will be logged. The information is also transparent and traceable, and therefore very difficult to modify.

This passport is a major step towards a fully digitized Detran, according to Santin R, president of Detran-PR. It will ease transfers in vehicle ownership, he said. It will also involve searches of vehicle history, which would otherwise be manual.
There will be fewer delays among consumers in purchasing or selling cars. Fraud will be reduced to a great extent. Informal transactional costs will fall. To automakers, insurers, and banks, such a system provides a credible source of data.

Additionally, Banco BV is bringing in expertise from Brazil’s digital currency initiative, Drex. They possess expertise that makes the car platform on the internet more credible. Pilot testing will come next. Pilot is going to combine the platform with Detran-PR systems.
It will replicate the aspect of ownership transfer and all lifecycle history. This experiential test will prove to be a workflow and tokenization idea.
