Crypto Daily was proud to announce it would be participating in the 2019 Run for Light even in Singapore on the 26th of January this year, supporting the work of the charity Guide Dogs Singapore. Run for Light was established in 2014 and has been an annual event ever since, raising funds and awareness to help individuals who are affected by loss of sight or problems with their vision.
2019 Event Details
The 2019 Run for Light event took place at the Punggol Waterway Park, with races held between 5pm and 10pm on Saturday the 26th of January. The event opened one hour prior to this and the final race began at 6pm. Run for Light features three separate races – a 5km fun run, a 1 km blindfold walk and a competitive 10km run. Instructors were on site for guided warm-up and cool-down sessions before and after the races. Only the 10km run is a competitive, timed event.
Event Registration
Registration fees for the 2019 event in Singapore dollars were $38 for the 5km fun run, $45 for the 10km challenge event and $68 per pair for the blindfold walk. Discounts were also available for contestants booking in groups of three. These prices do not include booking fees or bank charges.
The age limit for entry to the 10km open event starts at 13 years, with parental permission required for anyone aged under 18. Children as young as 4 can enter the fun run with their parent’s permission. Entrants are required to provide a name, contact number and NRIC/passport number upon registration.
10km Open Prizes
Prizes are made available for first to fifth places for men and women in the 10km open race. First place winners receive a cash award (Singapore dollars) of $300, with $200 for second place, $100 for third place and a pair of Nuke sunglasses for fourth and fifth place. First to fifth places also receive a trophy. A finishers medal is presented to everyone who completes the 10km race.
2019 10km Open Results
In the men’s 10km race in 2019, the winner was Nimesh Gurung, with a time of 32:32. Gurung was followed by Foo Gen Lin (33:06) and Subas Gurung (34:19). The women’s event was won by Hilda Stoney with a time of 42:36, followed by Verna Goh Shilei (43:39) and Jenny Huang (43:52).
