Dormant Bitcoin Wallet Continues Distribution With $33M Transfer to Binance

-

Idle wallets are reactivating, with BTC and ETH transfers signaling potential supply returning to exchanges.

Fresh onchain activity points to another sizable move from a long-term Bitcoin wallet. Market watchers are tracking a wallet tied to coins first acquired in 2013. Recent transfers suggest a steady pattern of sending old holdings to exchange wallets. Market participants often read such deposits as a sign that sales may follow.

On-Chain Data Shows 2013 Bitcoin Wallet Gradually Offloading Holdings

On-chain data shows renewed activity from a long-dormant Bitcoin wallet. The address moved another 500 BTC, worth about $33 million, to Binance. The transfer follows a series of recent deposits from the same address, including 1,000 BTC sent to exchanges last week.

Arkham Intelligence data indicates the wallet originally received 5,000 BTC in November 2013. Since late 2024, roughly 4,000 BTC has been transferred to Binance. At the time of writing, the address holds roughly 1,000 BTC, valued near $66 million at current market prices.

No direct proof shows the latest deposit was meant for an immediate sale. Even so, transfers to major exchanges often suggest a holder is preparing to sell or redistribute funds. That pattern has drawn attention as more long-dormant wallets have become active in recent months.

Dormant Supply Awakens as Long-Held ETH and BTC Enter Circulation

Recent on-chain activity shows a broader trend of long-dormant wallets becoming active across crypto markets. In one case, an Ethereum ICO-era wallet moved 18,500 ETH, worth about $38.1 million, to a new address.

According to Lookonchain, that address later sold 11,552 ETH (at $23.4 million) across multiple transactions at an average price of around $2,027. In a separate move, another Bitcoin wallet transferred 2,100 BTC, worth roughly $147.7 million, on Friday.

The coins had reportedly remained untouched for more than 13 years, adding to the recent wave of legacy wallet activity.
