Elon Musk declared his creation of a new political party, the America Party, after he opposed a recent federal spending bill. The billionaire businessman announced the establishment of the party on July 5, 2025, as a new option to the duopoly system of politics in the United States.
Musk’s Spending Concerns Drive New Political Movement
The move by Musk is based on his aggressive criticism of the so-called One Big Beautiful Bill, a tax-cutting and spending bill that was signed by President Donald Trump. Musk called the bill insane and threatened that should it go through, an America Party would be created the very next day to provide citizens with a VOICE outside of the Democrat-Republican uniparty. He was frustrated by the bipartisanism in spending in government and stressed on the need to be fiscally responsible and have fewer deficits.

On X, Musk stated in a post that if you desire a new political party, you will receive it by a 2:1 ratio. Today, the America Party is being established to reclaim your liberty. This was announced following the public breakup between Trump and Musk who was among those who had given Trump a lot of money in the 2024 election cycle. His previous political involvement is evidenced by the fact that his America Political Action Committee (America PAC) gave more than 270 million dollars in support of Trump and other Republican candidates.
This notwithstanding, a recent feud between Musk and Trump escalated on issues concerning the spending bill, where Trump threatened the cutting of federal subsidies to his companies.
