Efforts by the government to go digital with regard to security have involved the adoption of blockchain.
eGOVchain, a government chain of safe transactions that is included on blockchain, was also introduced by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT). The system will make the country more transparent and will reduce the amount of fraud that occurs there.
Why This Bill Has the Power to Change the Governance of the Philippines.
According to Senator Aquino, citizens could become more capable of tracking their expended pesos, and this could encourage accountability.
Budget data cannot be distorted without a trace, as the blockchain is immutable. Aquino focused on how the bill could lead to transparency in the world.
With blockchain, government spending is constantly available to the general public in real-time. It may complicate corruption and promote more responsible use of funds.
The advocacy of Aquino is related to the increased presence of the Philippines as a regional digital innovation center.
ACT worked with YGG Pilipinas to host blockchain and digital career workshops. Such initiatives make people more aware of the non-financial capabilities of the technology.
The project is based on various successful government blockchain projects, such as the DBM platform and the eGOVchain system of the DICT.
