Arkham shows 5 billion BTC Movie2K slips out of German confiscation. Sleepy wallets have a huge crypto value of around $5 billion.
At the beginning of 2024, German authorities seized more than 50K Bitcoin that was associated with Movie2K. Movie2K was a film piracy site. Operators were arrested in 2019.
Almost 50k bitcoins were willingly delivered to the government in January of 2024. In June–July of 2024, Germany held an auction for the Bitcoins that had been seized. With an average price tag of $2.89 billion, it was selling for $57,900.
But a large surprise was performed by Arkham Intelligence. More than 45,000 BTC have still not been used or noticed by authorities.

The value of these secret coins today is close to $5 billion. They are slumberers in more than 100 wallets. The wallets, according to Arkham, have not been moved since the year 2019. What is most likely the case is that Movie2K operators continue to exert influence on them.
This massive hoard was not referenced at all in the statement of the German government. Nor was it part of an emergency sale last year.
The discovery made by Arkham reveals what appears to be a big lapse on the part of the German authorities.

Arkham reports that these BTC may not have been taken back off Movie2K operators yet, although the silence is rather questionable.
Will they now fall into the hands of German officials? Or will they not be untouched? Recovery may be hampered by legal paperwork and technical reasons.
The enlightenment reflects the impact of the fact that it is challenging to manage digital property even in cases where criminal activity ceases. Blockchain companies such as Arkham are instrumental in unearthing latent assets.
The high number of bitcoins lying idle also implies that the matter of any future destinations would rock the market.
