Security risks and travel disruptions force TOKEN2049 to move its Dubai conference to April 2027 due to geopolitical tensions.
TOKEN2049 organizers have postponed their flagship Dubai conference until 2027 following growing security concerns in the region. Rising geopolitical tensions and disruptions to international travel prompted the decision after consultations with partners and stakeholders. Organizers said community safety and the ability to host the event at full global scale guided the move. Dubai remains a key center for the digital asset sector despite the delay.
Organizers Delay Conference to Protect Global Attendance
According to an official update, TOKEN2049 Dubai will now take place on April 21–22, 2027. The event team said the conference had been scheduled for 2026 and preparations were already underway.
Organizers postponed the event because of growing uncertainty in the region. Security concerns, travel disruptions, and logistical issues made it harder for international attendees to travel safely.
Large conferences like TOKEN2049 depend on people flying in from many countries. Because travel conditions may be unstable, organizers decided it was better to delay the event. They acknowledged that many people had already made plans and said they understand the disappointment.
Maintaining the scale and international attendance that define TOKEN2049 was another major factor behind the decision.
“We know this is disappointing news for many of you who have already made plans, and we don’t take that lightly. Preparations for the event were progressing strongly,” organizers wrote in a statement.
Meanwhile, registered attendees will keep their existing tickets for the new dates. Organizers also offered another option for participants who prefer not to wait. Ticket holders may transfer their credentials to TOKEN2049 Singapore, scheduled for October 7–8, 2026, at Marina Bay Sands.
Officials also thanked Dubai regulators and government partners for their support throughout the planning process. Plans now focus on returning with a larger event in April 2027.
Conflict in the Middle East Forces Crypto Industry Event Changes
The event was postponed after Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting areas in Dubai. Reports said the strikes hit Dubai International Airport and areas close to the city’s financial district.
Explosions were also reported in central Dubai, damaging buildings and forcing some workers to evacuate. Because of the attacks, many countries closed parts of their airspace, which disrupted flights across the region.
Unfortunately, another crypto event was affected as well. The Open Network (TON) canceled its Gateway Dubai conference, scheduled for May 1–2, 2026.
TON said on X that the event was canceled because of the ongoing Middle East conflict and safety concerns in the UAE. The organization said the decision was difficult but made to protect the community.
Unfortunately, due to the Middle East conflict and safety conditions in the UAE area, we have made the decision to cancel Gateway Dubai, originally scheduled for May 1 and 2, 2026. This was a difficult call, but the safety and well-being of our community always comes first.

The attacks happened shortly after the United States and Israel carried out strikes in Iran. This triggered Iran’s retaliation against the UAE with missiles and drones. Dubai has become a popular place for crypto companies, founders, and investors to meet and build projects.
