Tembo now accepts Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin, merging electric vehicle innovation with blockchain payments for fast, secure, global transactions.
VivoPower International PLC has shared a major update. Its electric vehicle subsidiary, Tembo e-LV, will now accept Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin as a form of payment. This change is a new step in the company’s digital finance strategy. VivoPower posted this news on the official X account.
Ripple’s RLUSD Stablecoin Surges 10x in Market Cap in 2025
To explain, RLUSD is a digital stablecoin issued by Ripple Labs. It is pegged 1:1 to the U.S. dollar. Further, it has the full backing of U.S. dollar deposits, short-term U.S. Treasuries and other safe cash equivalents. Because of this support, RLUSD provides the type of price stability that other digital assets can lack.

Moreover, RLUSD has increased rapidly in 2025. Its market capitalization has more than 10x since the year’s start. This growth is fueled by the demand for faster, cheaper and more reliable payment methods globally.
VivoPower’s decision is not simply about the addition of a method of payment. Rather, it is part of a bigger picture. The company is adopting the path of becoming what it calls the world’s first XRP-focused digital asset enterprise. It is an investment in XRP digital assets and Ripple Labs equity. Alongside this, VivoPower is working to construct decentralized finance (DeFi) tools and real-world blockchain applications.
Furthermore, RLUSD has some major advantages. For example, it enables international payments to be made almost instantly. Compared to the traditional wire transfer, RLUSD payments are faster and significantly cheaper. Also, given that the stablecoin is minted on the XRP Ledger and Ethereum, it provides flexibility for major blockchain platforms.
RLUSD was designed by Ripple with institutions in mind. As such, it adheres strictly to compliance standards, transparency, and security. This makes it especially useful for global businesses and financial institutions.
Tembo Adopts RLUSD, Linking EV Innovation with Blockchain Finance
In fact, Ripple just launched RLUSD to the African market. It partnered with three major platforms, Chipper Cash, VALR and Yellow Card. Chipper Cash offers mobile payments, while VALR is a top crypto exchange in South Africa, and Yellow Card supports digital payments across the continent. Together, these partners help Ripple to deliver secure, US dollar-backed digital services in Africa.
Clearly, RLUSD is getting more widely used. And now, Tembo’s embrace of the stablecoin is connecting the dots between sustainable energy, electric vehicles, and blockchain innovation.
Tembo is known for its work within the realm of electric utility vehicles, particularly within the rugged industries such as mining, agriculture and construction. In accepting RLUSD, it clears the path for easier international transactions with partners and customers around the world.
Equally important, the move bolsters VivoPower’s overall approach of having a digital treasury. The company wants to support the growth of the XRP Ledger but apply blockchain tools in real business operations.
In sum, VivoPower and Tembo’s use of RLUSD is more than a tech update. It demonstrates the two technologies of electric mobility and finance based on blockchain can work together. As the world works to move towards greener energy and smarter money systems, this partnership is an example of what the future might look like, a future that is fast, secure, and sustainable.
