Argentina is on its way to make a mark on the world Bitcoin map. The city of Buenos Aires has shown interest in the most widely used cryptocurrency. Recently, the Buenos Aries government joined hands with bitcoin advocates to organize an event focused on discussions revolving around bitcoin.

It was one of the first digital currency related event to be conducted jointly by the government and bitcoin community. Held on July 31 in one of the newly built auditoriums in the city, the event was co-sponsored by Bitcoin Argentina and Bitcoin Latin America.

The main agenda of the event was to engage the government officials responsible for regulations to review the regulatory practices that are applicable to bitcoin and other digital currencies. As the event coincided with ongoing Virtual Currencies in the Financial and Regulatory Environment Forum which held in Sao Paulo, Brazil, it was live streamed at the venue as well.

The event was received well by bitcoin enthusiasts and entrepreneurs across Argentina. The Buenos Aires event was the first conference of such kind to be held with government’s support in Latin America. The conference was opened by Mr. Gonzalo Blousson, the founder of BitCourt. He offered a brief overview of the history of money, giving details about its origins and features.

Another notable speaker at the event was one of the founders of Bitcoin Argentina, Rodolfo Andragnes who spoke about bitcoin and relation between bitcoin and blockchain technology.

Bitcoin businesses are still at nascent stages, and having clarity in terms of regulations will be helpful for the companies to start up and provide services accordingly. It will also encourage more people to use bitcoin. Franco Amati from Bitcoin Argentina and Buenos Aires Bitcoin Center praised the government for its initiative. The Buenos Aires conference has placed the local government of Buenos Aires beside other governments that have embraced bitcoin so far.
