Erik Voorhees bought nearly 25K Ethereum worth over $56M, showing renewed confidence in Ethereum as blockchain data reveals continued large accumulation activity.
Erik Voorhees, former CEO of crypto exchange ShapeShift, has reportedly bought Ethereum worth more than $56 million. Recent data from a blockchain revealed huge purchases via multiple wallets in the last few days. The reason this activity received attention is that Voorhees sold a lot of Ethereum last year. Many traders have now interpreted this move as a sign of renewed confidence in ETH.

According to Arkham blockchain data from Lookonchain, Voorhees spent 49.08 million USDT on acquiring 23,393 ETH. The transactions were done via two separate wallets associated with his activity. These trades were written on Sunday, and they rapidly spread across the crypto markets.
Erik Voorhees(@ErikVoorhees), an early #Bitcoin supporter and founder of ShapeShift, is buying back $ETH after a one-year break.
One year ago, he sold 12,886 $ETH($42.83M) at $3,324.
In the past 5 days, he has spent 17.75M $USDT to buy back 8,576 $ETH at $2,069.

Lookonchain later noticed more purchasing from one of the spied wallets. After the latest trades, the total amount stood at approximately 24,968 ETH, which is at the value of almost $56.5 million. Reports also revealed that the wallet is still holding approximately 26.77 million USDT. This remaining balance implies that there is a possibility of more buying if market conditions remain favourable.

This accumulation follows a big sale one year ago. Data indicated that Voorhees was selling 12,886 ETH at a time the price was near $3,324. That sale had been valued at approximately $42.83 million at the time. Recently, he bought thousands of ETH again at lower prices, which is closer to $2,069. Traders often consider such moves as a long term strategy rather than the short trading.
Strategy shift and previous trades increase market interest
Market watchers commented that Voorhees shifted his strategy during the late 2025. Reports said that he was selling part of his Ethereum holdings to diversify into Bitcoin Cash. That decision surprised a number of followers since he was a supporter of Ethereum for many years. The new buying activity indicates he may again see better potential in ETH.
In early February 2026, blockchain data also revealed another massive trade. Records showed that he bought 9,911 ETH for about 20.38 million USDC. That transaction already indicated a good outlook on Ethereum before the latest buying. Since all trades are visible on public blockchain networks, the numbers can be verified by everyone.
Erik Voorhees is one of the most well-known people in the crypto industry. He has founded ShapeShift and endorsed Bitcoin and decentralized finance for many years. Currently, he is working on Venice AI, a project that is focused on privacy and artificial intelligence technology. Even when he is not in exchange leadership, his trades still have an impact on the sentiment in the market.
Large purchases by well-known investors often boost the confidence of smaller traders. When experienced people start stockpiling coins in uncertain markets, many investors take it as a bullish sign. For this reason, the recent Ethereum buying by Voorhees is being watched with great attention.
