Tube8, a subsidiary of one of the most popular adult film websites, Pornhub, has announced plans to put its entire platform on the blockchain. The popular adult streaming video website is partnering with Vice Industry Token (VIT) and plans to reward users with VIT tokens for watching porn.
According to Hard Fork, Tube8 is teaming up with Vice Industry Token (VIT) to completely tokenize its platform. Under the new “user engagement model,” users would earn VIT tokens for streaming and otherwise engaging with content on the platform. Slated to be implemented by the end of the year, the move would make Tube8 – which boasts more than 10 million users and 150 million visitors per month – the first major adult streaming service to reward the viewers with unique crypto tokens.

Tube8 spokesperson, Robin Turner, explained the rationale behind the partnership:
For as long as I can remember, getting paid to watch porn was always a pipedream; one that was always dreamed about, but never fully realized. […] Now however, with the introduction of VIT, we are marking a paradigm shift in how people consume adult entertainment.
He continued:
As opposed to having to fork over money to consume content, which some sites require, our users will get paid to consume our free content. […] The more they interact with our videos, the more money they earn.
Crypto and Porn: Not So Strange Bedfellows
While the successful tokenization of its platform would make Tube8 the first adult streaming website to pay users to watch porn, they are hardly the first adult site to integrate cryptocurrencies into its platform.
In April of this year, it was announced that the popular adult video sharing website Pornhub had partnered with privacy-focused cryptocurrency Verge (XVG). The partnership enabled users to pay for the platform’s premium services – as well as those of sister sites Brazzers and Nutaku – with XVG. Two months later, Pornhub added Zencash and TRON to its cryptocurrency payment options.
Playboy also had plans to tokenize its web properties, contracting with Global Blockchain Technologies (BLOC) in May to integrate VIT as both a means of payment and user rewards. The relationship appears to have soured, however, as Playboy recently filed a lawsuit against Global Blockchain Technologies alleging fraud and breach of contract.
