Puma ventures further into gaming to bring exclusive content to a Web3 play-to-earn soccer game called UNKJD.
German sportswear giant Puma has partnered with upcoming Web3 mobile game UNKJD to bring unique characters and capabilities to the gameplay. This partnership, bringing official Puma-licensed content to Web3, adds to the firm’s journey in the blockchain realm. It was previously involved in offering Puma Pass NFTs that unlocked access to its Black Station, a virtual space in which fans and consumers could experience product drops.
Its newest addition to the Web3 space will involve bringing Puma-themed characters, skins, and skills. UNKJD is a soccer game integrated with RPG and fantasy elements. Puma’s sports branding fits right into it. The sportswear brand has partnered with numerous other games from the Web2 world prior, like Fortnite and Rocket League. Now, it has shifted its focus to Web3 gaming.
In a statement issued by UNKJD, Ivan Dashkov, Director of Emerging Marketing Tech at PUMA, said, “People are increasingly expressing themselves in games and digital worlds, so having the PUMA brand available in these environments is a huge priority to us as gaming culture is a part of our all-encompassing culture.”
This partnership could be great for Puma’s marketing as UNKJD already has 75,000 players onboarded with its soft launch. Its full release is set for early 2025. The Puma-themed content will appear soon, according to UNKJD’s release.
Tal Friedman, CEO of UNKJD, mentioned, “This partnership allows us to expand our reach and introduce UNKJD Soccer to PUMA’s global audience while offering our existing community exciting new content. Together, we’re set to create something truly special in the mobile gaming space.”
Play-to-earn Web3 games are gaining roaring traction, with the vertical being one of the most widely utilized ones in the decentralized sphere. For instance, Telegram-based games operating on the TON blockchain witness millions of users engaging with them.
