LG Electronics is piloting an onchain advertising network built on Arbitrum.
The project comes from the company’s Blockchain Research Lab. It tests whether ad performance can be recorded and independently verified.
The pilot ran in Japan alongside advertising firm Hakuhodo. Results are currently under evaluation.

Digital advertising has a well-documented trust problem. Impressions, clicks, and conversions are measured inside closed systems.
Settlement arrives weeks later through processes neither advertiser nor publisher can inspect. WARC forecasts global ad spend at $1.3 trillion in 2026. At that scale, the gap between what is reported and what can be proven moves serious money.
LG’s Blockchain Research Lab identified three specific pressure points driving the pilot. Ad fraud tops the list, with automated buying volumes making bot traffic difficult to separate from genuine performance.
Privacy regulation is tightening in parallel, restricting how audience data moves across platforms. The third is declining engagement, with rising ad volumes producing fewer measurable responses.
The system the lab developed records ad delivery as evidence: who served an advertisement, when, and how. The record is structured to be difficult to alter after the fact.
According to LG’s blog announcement, the design also handles data in a way that respects tightening privacy rules and structures settlement to reduce waste from invalid traffic.
Why Arbitrum and What the Pilot Actually Tested
The lab chose Arbitrum for its scalability.
“Arbitrum provides flexible infrastructure that aligns well with the scalability and performance considerations of large-scale networks,” said Samuel Byungsun Park, Blockchain Research Department Leader at LG Electronics.
The Japan pilot put the system in front of real users with Hakuhodo, testing whether engagement with the advertising felt natural and whether the operational model held up under live conditions.
Offchain Labs co-founder and CEO Steven Goldfeder framed the project in terms of a broader market shift.
“Advertising has long been measured by how many impressions are served,” he said. “The industry is shifting toward verifiable performance and blockchain is the architecture built for it.”
Offchain CTO Harry Kalodner added that large companies consistently want public infrastructure guarantees without surrendering control of their own environment.
Arbitrum’s structure addresses that directly. Through the network, LG can configure the execution environment, fee structure, and governance to suit its own objectives while staying connected to global settlement layers.
The system is also designed to work alongside existing demand-side and supply-side platforms, keeping switching costs low by adding verification to the current stack rather than replacing it.
The global economy is becoming programmable and advertising is the latest market to test it.

Where LG Says This Is Heading
LG has published its intended direction for the technology. The company is targeting continued application in live advertising environments.
The stated goals cover reliability of advertising data, privacy-conscious operation, and cost efficiency. The aim is to contribute toward technical standards for the digital advertising market, per the blog announcement.
Brendan Ma, Head of Investment Strategy at the Arbitrum Foundation, noted the shift in enterprise demand.
“Since the launch of Arbitrum, we have seen rising demand from leading enterprises and publicly listed partners across global markets, from trading and finance to now the global advertising industry,” he said.
Park described the broader objective as exploring whether blockchain can meaningfully improve transparency in advertising workflows. This, while supporting a privacy-conscious approach to consumer data.
The industry has seen blockchain advertising pitches before. What the LG pilot adds is a live test, in a real market, with a named partner, producing results that are now under active evaluation.
