Bitmine has expanded its Ethereum treasury strategy, staking $289.4 million worth of ETH during the past week. The move brings its staked position to 4.2% of Ethereum’s total supply, according to blockchain analytics platform Arkham.
The company also purchased another $14.25 million worth of ETH during the same period. Its combined holdings now represent 4.8% of Ethereum’s supply, highlighting the scale of its accumulation strategy.
Bitmine Expands Its Ethereum Treasury Position
Arkham reported that Bitmine staked roughly $289.4 million worth of Ether over the past week. That allocation pushes the company’s staked holdings to an estimated 4.2% of the network’s total supply.
Bitmine has continued building its position as institutional interest in Ethereum develops. Moreover, the latest purchase shows that Bitmine is increasing direct holdings while moving a substantial portion into staking.
That approach can generate staking rewards while reducing the amount of ETH immediately available for trading. However, staking does not eliminate risks, including price volatility, validator penalties, and changing reward conditions.
Ethereum’s broader staking market has also expanded considerably. Recent network data showed more than 41 million ETH locked in staking, representing about 34% of total supply.

Institutional Demand Keeps Ethereum in Focus
Bitmine’s latest move adds to a wider trend involving companies building Ethereum treasury positions. SharpLink has also accumulated substantial ETH, reinforcing growing corporate interest around the asset.
However, Bitmine’s growing concentration raises questions about supply distribution and validator diversity. A 4.2% stake remains far below a level that could independently control Ethereum’s consensus.
The development also comes as Ethereum attracts institutional attention through tokenization, stablecoins, and expanding network activity.
At the same time, institutional staking can influence supply dynamics without necessarily changing Ethereum’s consensus structure or development path.
Meanwhile, Bitmine’s additional $14.25 million purchase suggests its accumulation strategy remains active beyond staking decisions. The company now holds 4.8% of total supply, placing its treasury among the largest corporate Ethereum positions.
Overall, for investors, the key issue is whether this accumulation continues and how staking participation affects available market supply. Further purchases could reinforce institutional demand, although price performance remains dependent on broader market conditions.
