CoinShares enters Europe’s UCITS market, widening institutional access to regulated crypto investment products.
CoinShares is widening its reach in Europe with a new investment platform built around the UCITS regulatory framework. The move comes as institutional demand for regulated digital asset products continues to grow across the region. On another note, the company believes many large investors have remained on the sidelines because of restrictions tied to existing investment structures. Its first product under the platform is already trading on one of Europe’s largest exchanges.
CoinShares Brings Bitcoin Mining ETF to Europe’s UCITS Fund Market
Crypto asset manager CoinShares has launched a UCITS platform aimed at attracting institutional investors across Europe’s €26.3 trillion ($30 trillion) investment fund market. Alongside the platform, the company introduced the CoinShares Bitcoin Mining UCITS ETF.
According to a statement released Tuesday, the new structure allows CoinShares to reach pension funds, insurance companies, and private banks that were previously unable to invest through its existing products.
The company said many institutional mandates restrict holdings in debt securities, including physically backed products. As a result, investors could not access some of CoinShares’ offerings despite growing interest in digital assets.
UCITS, short for Undertakings for the Collective Investment in Transferable Securities, is a European regulatory framework governing investment funds that can be marketed across the European Union. CoinShares said adopting that format removes a key barrier for institutions whose mandates already permit UCITS funds.
UCITS Platform Paves Way for More Digital Asset Investment Products
CoinShares Bitcoin Mining UCITS ETF began trading on Deutsche Börse Xetra on Tuesday, marking the company’s first product under its new platform. Jean-Marie Mognetti, co-founder, president, and chief executive officer of CoinShares, described the launch as more than a single fund. He said it represents the firm’s entry into the UCITS market through a platform capable of supporting future regulated investment products under one of the world’s best-known fund frameworks.
The company also said the platform operates with a largely fixed cost base, giving it room to expand its product lineup over time. Future launches are expected to include additional digital asset and thematic investment strategies.
CoinShares reported more than $165.7 million in revenue for 2025, according to its first annual report following its U.S. public listing in April. Shares of the company, listed on Nasdaq, closed 2.1% lower at $4.11 on Monday.
