Michael Egorov

Michael Egorov is the founder of the decentralized protocols Curve Finance and Yield Basis. He is also a co-founder and former CTO of NuCypher, a project focused on privacy-preserving infrastructure.

Egorov is best known for designing Curve’s automated market maker (AMM), optimized for low-slippage trading between stablecoins. Curve was launched in 2020 and has since become a key layer of DeFi infrastructure for stablecoin liquidity. It introduced a specialized approach to liquidity provisioning that enables more efficient pricing for assets with similar value. Today, it is widely used across DeFi for stablecoin swaps and liquidity management.

In 2025, Egorov launched Yield Basis, a protocol designed to eliminate one of DeFi’s biggest challenges — impermanent loss in AMMs, building on mechanisms pioneered in Curve Finance.

Before entering the crypto industry, Egorov worked in distributed systems and encryption and built his academic background in physics. He holds a PhD in Physics from Swinburne University of Technology and studied applied mathematics and physics at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT). He is also a bronze medalist of the International Physics Olympiad.
