Tether Gold XAU₮ Wins ADGM Approval in Major UAE Crypto Milestone

By Samuel

Tether Gold (XAU₮) wins ADGM approval, allowing regulated firms in Abu Dhabi to offer services tied to tokenized gold.

The United Arab Emirates has taken another step in expanding its regulated crypto market.

Tether Gold (XAU₮) has received recognition as an Accepted Spot Commodity within Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM).

The move gives licensed firms a regulated route to provide services linked to the tokenized gold asset. It also strengthens the UAE’s growing role in digital assets and tokenized real-world assets.

Tether Gold XAU₮ Approved Under ADGM Spot Commodity Framework

Tether announced on July 20 that ADGM now recognizes XAU₮ as an Accepted Spot Commodity.

The company shared the update through its official website and confirmed it through its official X account.

The approval allows firms operating within ADGM to offer products and services involving XAU₮.

Those firms must still hold the required regulatory permissions before supporting the token. According to Tether, the recognition followed continued discussions with ADGM.

Those engagements focused on demonstrating the project’s compliance standards, transparency, and operational resilience.

XAU₮ represents ownership of physical gold on the blockchain. Each full token corresponds to one troy ounce of gold stored in a London Good Delivery bar, giving users digital access to a physical asset.

UAE Crypto Rules Expand Support for Tokenized Gold

The latest decision builds on ADGM’s earlier recognition of Tether’s USD₮ as an Accepted Fiat Referenced Token.

That expands the range of Tether products available through regulated firms operating in Abu Dhabi.

ADGM stated that the approval supports its goal of creating a trusted regulatory environment for digital assets and tokenized real-world assets.

The framework aims to help licensed companies introduce new financial products while meeting compliance requirements.

Tether also said the approval reflects the UAE’s continued focus on practical digital asset adoption.

The company expects regulated institutions to gain clearer access to tokenized gold through the ADGM framework.

Demand for tokenized real-world assets has continued to increase across financial markets.

Tether cited industry figures showing the sector now exceeds $31 billion in distributed asset value, compared with roughly $6.6 billion one year earlier.

Tether Expands UAE Presence Through Regulated Crypto Products

The approval marks another milestone in Tether’s expanding operations across the UAE.

The company said it will continue working with regulators, licensed firms, and regional partners to support regulated crypto adoption.

Unlike traditional gold ownership, XAU₮ allows users to transfer tokenized gold across blockchain networks.

Tether said every token remains backed by allocated physical gold that carries its own serial number, purity, and weight.

Token holders can trade the asset digitally while maintaining a claim to the underlying gold.

Tether also stated that eligible holders may redeem their tokens for physical gold under the platform’s existing terms.

The latest approval gives regulated firms within ADGM another tokenized asset to support as the UAE continues developing its crypto ecosystem.

The announcement also reinforces the country’s focus on bringing traditional assets onto blockchain infrastructure through regulated frameworks.
