- World Foundation secured $52.5M to expand its World ID identity verification network globally.
- Pantera Capital led the WLD funding round, with all purchased tokens locked for one year.
- World ID adoption grows as AI increases demand for trusted proof-of-human verification.
World Foundation has secured $52.5 million through a strategic sale of locked WLD tokens to expand its World ID digital identity infrastructure. The funding will support broader enterprise adoption, consumer applications, and artificial intelligence services as demand grows for systems that distinguish humans from AI agents.
World Foundation Expands Proof-of-Human Network
World Foundation announced the funding on July 24, with Pantera Capital leading the investment round. Other participants included Bain Capital Crypto, Eightco Holdings, Selini Capital, Susquehanna Crypto, and several strategic investors.Â
The organization confirmed that all purchased WLD tokens carry a 1-year lockup period and were sold at market prices through a private transaction rather than public exchanges.
The nonprofit said the proceeds will accelerate global deployment of World ID, its proof-of-human verification system. The platform enables users to verify they are unique individuals through a one-time Orb biometric scan without exposing personal identity information. Users retain their digital credentials on their own devices through privacy-focused cryptographic technology.

World Foundation stated that artificial intelligence is increasing demand for trusted online identity verification. As AI-generated content, bots, and autonomous agents become more sophisticated, businesses require reliable methods to distinguish genuine users from automated systems.
Pantera Capital General Partner Cosmo Jiang said the rapid development of artificial intelligence has strengthened the need for proof-of-human infrastructure. He added that the investment firm continues supporting World’s long-term mission as enterprise adoption expands across global markets.
The funding marks another milestone for the organization after raising $135 million through a similar WLD token sale earlier this year. Combined, World Foundation and related entities have now secured roughly $200 million through strategic WLD sales.
Enterprise Adoption Grows Despite Regulatory Scrutiny
World Foundation said the new capital will support the rollout of World ID 4.0, an enterprise-focused version designed for large-scale deployments. The updated platform allows developers to build additional identity credentials using zero-knowledge proofs while integrating with the broader World ecosystem.
According to the organization, World ID has already been integrated with services including Zoom, DocuSign, Okta, Vercel, and Tinder. The network reports more than 39 million registered users, while over 18 million individuals have completed Orb verification.Â
Since launch, users have generated more than 475 million identity proofs across supported applications.
Originally co-founded by OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, World has continued expanding its identity network worldwide despite increasing regulatory scrutiny. Regulators across multiple jurisdictions have reviewed its biometric verification practices, citing concerns over privacy, user consent, and personal data protection.Â
World Foundation has maintained that its technology protects user privacy through advanced cryptographic methods while supporting secure digital identity verification.
As artificial intelligence adoption accelerates worldwide, the organization believes proof-of-human technology will become increasingly important for online services seeking stronger protection against deepfakes, synthetic identities, and automated fraud.
