Aviva Investors has launched an Aviva tokenized sterling fund share class on the XRP Ledger, seeded with £50 million ($66 million). This is its second tokenized money-market class after the July 2026 US dollar Liquidity Fund listing. Per Aviva Investors' October 26, 2026 announcement, Ripple is the blockchain partner on the deal.

The tokens sit on the existing Ireland UCITS Sterling Liquidity Fund. That fund holds about £22 billion. The goal, risk profile, and daily liquidity stay the same. But ownership can now sit in a wallet as a digital twin. BNY Mellon still holds the fund assets.

How the Aviva Tokenized Sterling Fund Share Class Works

The share class uses a digital twin model. On-chain records show who owns the tokenized units. The conventional fund stays off-chain. So UCITS protections remain while eligible buyers get a wallet path.

Aviva put £50 million into the new sterling class. Across both tokenized classes, it now reports more than £86 million ($116 million) invested. That stake is large versus the new class itself. In other words, the manager seeded the launch as much as outside wallets did.

CEO Mark Versey cast the launch as groundwork for a wider tokenized lineup. He said the partnership with Ripple remains central to that plan. Nigel Khakoo, Ripple's senior vice president for trading and markets, said fund settlement is moving toward always-on rails.

Ripple, Custody Partners, and the XRPL Stack

Ripple supplies the XRP Ledger stack for the tokenized units. Komainu, a regulated digital-asset custodian, supports the digital access layer. Licuido, named in the release as a tokenization firm, also supports that layer. BNY Mellon holds the fund assets.

Aviva says XRPL has processed more than 4 billion transactions since 2012. It also cites nearly 8 million active wallets and more than 130 validators. Those stats speak to speed and cost. However, they do not prove demand for the sterling class.

Readers who track XRP Ledger institutional use will know this pattern. A regulated fund keeps its UCITS wrapper. Then it adds a tokenized share class instead of rebuilding the product.

What the £50M Commitment Does Not Change

Tokenization here is an access layer, not a new portfolio. The fund still targets low-risk sterling money-market exposure. It does that through high-grade short-term UK debt, as it has since 2002. Eligible investors with digital wallets are the buyers. The release does not describe open retail access.

Aviva also calls itself one of Europe's largest tokenized money-market fund providers. That claim rests on the £86 million combined figure and RWA.xyz tallies. Still, £86 million is small next to the £22 billion parent fund. The watch signal is clear. Outside investors must add real flows beyond Aviva's £50 million seed. A third tokenized class with named external AUM would also strengthen the case.
