Tom Brady Featured in New FTX Crypto Commercial

-

American football star Tom Brady – who has recently become the celebrity front man for FTX, a new yet increasingly-popular digital currency exchange – was recently featured in an odd, yet interesting advertisement for the platform in which he melted a block of ice containing a single bitcoin with a flamethrower, thus symbolizing that no crypto winter can stop the space from flourishing.

Tom Brady Is Seen Promoting FTX

In the ad, Brady is seen standing next to a pool. He shoots fire out from his weapon at a block of ice. Once it was melted, viewers saw that the ice contained a single BTC unit. Brady then states:

A lot of people think this is how you mine bitcoin, but you don’t need a flamethrower to buy, sell, or trade bitcoin and crypto safely.

Accompanying the ad was a tweet issued by Brady around the July 4th holiday in the United States, where he appears to poke fun at himself and his position in the ad. The tweet read:

I’m around if anyone needs me for their 4th of July barbecue.

Brady has long been a bitcoin and crypto advocate. His Twitter profile even features the famous “laser eyes,” which has become a huge staple for those who like to get involved in the digital currency space. This same symbol has been viewed on the Twitter feeds of people like El Salvador’s bitcoin-loving president Nayib Bukele.

Brady recently discussed his “laser eyes” syndrome and commented on the general state of the crypto market. He acknowledged on social media that the digital currency space is not doing well as of late, with bitcoin, for example, losing more than 70 percent from its all-time high of $68,000 per unit, which was achieved in November of last year. The industry has lost more than $2 trillion in total value at the time of writing.

Brady said online:

Alright, the laser eyes didn’t work. Anyone have any ideas?

Celebs and Crypto Don’t Go Together in Some People’s Minds

Over the last few months, crypto traders have been treated to numerous examples of celebrities getting involved not only in crypto, but crypto advertising, though not all these moves have been appreciated. Many investors, for instance, took issue with Oscar-winner Matt Damon appearing in a Crypto.com advertisement and claiming that those who didn’t invest in the digital currency space were not brave.

While it may not have been the intention of the featured advertisements to exhibit this message, many viewers saw them in a negative light. Similar sentiment was experienced after Larry David of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” fame appeared in a Super Bowl commercial for FTX. Several took to social media to say celebrities were only getting involved in crypto ads because they couldn’t say “no” to the idea of more paychecks.
