Uniswap Launches Permissionless Cross-Chain Bridging

-

Uniswap launches permissionless cross-chain bridging, enabling seamless asset transfers across nine networks, enhancing user experience with Across Protocol technology.

Uniswap has announced the launch of permissionless cross-chain bridging. This feature allows users to bridge assets directly between nine networks. The supported networks include Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum, Polygon, Zora, Blast, OP Mainnet, World Chain, and ZKsync. Thanks to Across Protocol, users can now find this feature in the Uniswap Interface and the Uniswap Wallet.

This new bridging capability is one of the most popular demands of Uniswap users. Therefore, the launch is a significant step toward Uniswap’s ultimate goal of cross-chain swaps. Today, more than six million Uniswap users participate in swaps across chains. As a result, Uniswap Labs ensures that these users will have an easy time when bridging.

Cross-chain asset transfers presented several difficulties in the past. Customers had to work with external bridges involving unknown interfaces and long transactions. Moreover, there were some issues about the security of the different bridging services. To this end, the new feature in Uniswap seeks to solve these problems.

Uniswap Expands Functionality with Multi-Chain Bridging

The bridging functionality is supported by a technology called the Across Protocol. For instance, Across is the only cross-chain intents protocol that is already being used in production. It offers users the opportunity to make fast and secure transactions. Unlike traditional bridges, Across is a permissionless bridge. In this approach, transactions occur through a decentralized network of liquidity pools and relayers, not in minutes but seconds.

At launch, users can crossway native tokens like ETH on Ethereum or ARB on Arbitrum and stablecoins. In order to employ the in-app bridging feature, the users have to perform several operations, which are listed below. First, they should open the Uniswap Interface or Uniswap Wallet. Then, they go to the swap modal. They decide the asset they want to bridge, such as ETH or USDC. Last, they choose “Swap across networks” and complete the transaction.

Uniswap Labs is expected to build products for a multi-chain world. While almost all the product development is centered on new features, they want users to have a smooth experience across multiple chains. This launch is significant for Uniswap and its users, as it opens the door to a more interconnected blockchain environment. With ongoing advancements, Uniswap is set to lead the way in multi-chain bridging.
