Metaplanet Redeems ¥8B Bonds Early, Lifts Bitcoin Buys to ¥33.4B
Metaplanet Bitcoin buys are set to rise. The Tokyo-listed treasury firm repaid ¥8 billion in EVO FUND bonds early with cash on hand. Its November 2 company disclosure moves that ¥8 billion from bond repayment into Bitcoin purchases. Planned buys climb from ¥25.422 billion to ¥33.422 billion. That is the stake for Bitcoin news readers who track corporate treasury demand.
Metaplanet Settles Series 20 Bonds Ahead of Schedule
Metaplanet said it finished the early payoff of its 20th Series of ordinary bonds on November 2. The firm issued the ¥8 billion bonds to EVO FUND on April 24, 2026. Repayment had been due April 23, 2027.
Under a deal with EVO FUND, Metaplanet paid the full principal before maturity. It used cash on hand. It did not tap proceeds from its 27th Series of Stock Acquisition Rights. Those rights had been assigned to the bond payoff.
The bonds carried no interest. Metaplanet expects little effect on group results for the year ending December 31, 2026. It also said the new use of proceeds will not change its financial results.
Metaplanet Bitcoin Buys Climb to ¥33.422 Billion
The payoff led Metaplanet to revise the planned use of funds from the 27th Series of Stock Acquisition Rights. In an April 24 notice, the firm had set aside ¥8 billion of those proceeds to repay the Series 20 bonds. It also reserved ¥25.422 billion for Bitcoin purchases.
With the bonds now settled in cash, that repayment line is no longer needed. Metaplanet went back to the earlier plan. It moved the ¥8 billion into Bitcoin purchases.
Under the new schedule, the firm plans to put ¥33.422 billion into Bitcoin purchases between April 2026 and April 2028. Another ¥3.714 billion stays set aside for its Bitcoin income generation business over the same window. Total planned proceeds remain ¥37.135 billion. The bond repayment line is gone.
The change covers planned use of stock-acquisition-rights proceeds. It does not mean Metaplanet has already spent the extra ¥8 billion on Bitcoin. Purchases still depend on cash raised when those rights are exercised. For Bitcoin investing watchers, the move shows a listed treasury firm freeing SAR cash for BTC instead of debt service.
