Hypersurface Acquires Acre, Launches HSBPI Bitcoin Premium Income Vault

By Aayush Jindal
  • Hypersurface, the volatility-trading platform running on HyperEVM, has acquired Bitcoin yield protocol Acre.
  • The deal centers on a new product – the Hypersurface Bitcoin Premium Income vault (HSBPI) – which uses on-chain volatility trading to generate premium income for Bitcoin holders.
  • Hypersurface says it will soon release further details on the integration, including migration steps, timelines, and procedures.

Hypersurface, the volatility-yield decentralized finance (DeFi) platform native to HyperEVM, announced today its acquisition of the Bitcoin yield protocol Acre. The pair will now blend their respective technologies – Hypersurface’s on-chain execution layer and Acre’s automated dispatcher – to launch the Hypersurface Bitcoin Premium Income vault (HSBPI), a Bitcoin (BTC) strategy built to convert market volatility into recurring income.

Hypersurface pairs Acre integration with HSBPI launch

Hypersurface runs a fully on-chain, automated volatility engine that uses options trading to turn market swings into yield. Acre, meanwhile, generates Bitcoin-denominated yield routing BTC to secured vaults.

HSBPI brings those two functions together on a single platform. Holders can earn premium income on their Bitcoin through a live, audited, and actively managed volatility strategy while retaining self-custody of their assets.

Notably, the launch responds to rising demand for Bitcoin premium income products in traditional finance (TradFi). Comparable offerings include YieldMax’s MSTR Option Income Strategy ETF (MSTY), which writes options on Strategy Inc. (NASDAQ: MSTR) stock, and BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Premium Income ETF (NASDAQ: BITA).

What sets HSBPI apart is its on-chain architecture and Bitcoin-denominated structure. Those features remove the need for traditional brokerage intermediaries, reducing participation to a single Bitcoin deposit from a supported wallet.

Monarq Asset Management, a multi-strategy digital asset investment firm, will manage HSBPI, while trades will execute on the Hypersurface protocol. Monarq runs delta-neutral options strategies across both centralized and decentralized venues and, according to the announcement, oversees $700 million in assets under management (AUM) and is backed by prime broker FalconX.

Leadership perspectives and launch readiness

“We started Acre to give Bitcoin holders a better home for their assets, and this acquisition is the most exciting step yet toward that goal,” said Laura Wallendal, CEO and Founder of Acre. “Hypersurface has built exactly the engine our vision needed. Bringing our infrastructure together with their execution layer means the work we started gets to grow into something far bigger.”

Monica Quaintance, Co-founder and CEO of Hypersurface, added: “Acre has built Bitcoin infrastructure that’s a natural fit for expanding our suite of volatility products. This acquisition aligns with our long-term strategy to increase access to on-chain vol trading and expand our presence in Bitcoin-native yield and vault products. By combining our technologies and teams, we can accelerate our roadmap and bring innovative Bitcoin income strategies to market faster.”

Importantly, all existing Acre depositors will be able to migrate their Bitcoin into HSBPI. The platform will provide procedural instructions, timelines, and other relevant details before the transition begins, with the acquisition expected to close once final documentation is completed and operational readiness is confirmed.

With the HSBPI launch, Hypersurface is now at the intersection of two of the year’s fastest-growing themes – on-chain options yield and Bitcoin-native income – just as TradFi heavyweights such as BlackRock push into the same category.
