Minos opened a public macOS beta on November 7, 2026, for Bittensor Subnet 107. The Minos Bittensor public beta is a downloadable Apple Silicon client. It asks a user's own AI to draft scientific literature briefs. Then the Mac audits that work and uploads a signed evidence bundle. On-chain subnet rewards for this new workload stay off during the beta.

The project announced the release on its official channel the same morning. It thanked early testers and pointed downloads to its website. The product page is blunt about the economics: public beta, subnet rewards are not active yet. Hardware is narrow too. The app needs macOS 14 or newer on Apple Silicon.

How the Minos Bittensor Public Beta Works

Minos already runs as Bittensor Subnet 107: a decentralized genomic variant-calling market. Miners compete to spot DNA mutations in sequencing data. Validators score accuracy against truth sets. The Mac app is not that live caller competition. Minos calls it a prototype miner for the subnet's next workload, evaluation authoring.

The run has three stages the product labels Research, Draft, and Recheck.

  1. The user's AI drafts a scientific brief from public literature for an assignment pulled from Minos's test queue.
  2. The Mac audits that draft locally. Source material and inference keys stay on the machine; keys sit in Keychain.
  3. One evidence bundle leaves per finished assignment, through a signed upload URL. The Mac also sends worker status and activity events to the platform API over HTTPS, plus the computer name at registration.

Connected AI surfaces today include Codex via a ChatGPT account, Claude Code and Kimi Code via their CLIs, and SayGM and Chutes via API keys. The work burns the user's own subscription or credit. Nothing from this beta path is registered or submitted on-chain while rewards remain dark.

Why a Chain, and Why AI

Variant calling is the job of naming which DNA bases differ from a reference. Labs already run tools such as GATK, DeepVariant, FreeBayes, and BCFtools. Minos's stated bet is that accuracy should be earned in open rounds rather than self-reported inside closed pipelines. Bittensor supplies the economic coordination layer: independent miners, scored work, and TAO-linked subnet emissions when a workload is live.

AI enters this Mac beta for a different reason. The client is not asking a model to call variants from a BAM file. It is asking a model to write literature briefs that support evaluation authoring. Then the local machine checks and packages evidence. That is a research chore wrapped as subnet prep. It is not a proof that a genome call was clinically correct.

Follow one assignment through the beta system and the split is clear. Queue task arrives. Off-chain model drafts. Local Mac audits. Signed bundle uploads. Chain incentives do not settle the run. The blockchain job, when rewards later turn on, would be accounting for who did scored work. It would not, by itself, certify that a brief was scientifically sound or that a future variant call matched biology.

What Is Demonstrated, and What Is Not

What Minos has demonstrated is a public client surface: a Mac app, a bring-your-own-AI path, local key storage, and an evidence upload flow tied to Subnet 107's next workload. Treat those as product facts from the company's pages and November 7 post.

What remains project claim or unfinished is the larger genomics thesis. Continuous, incentive-aligned benchmarking of variant callers; expanding coverage of hard genomic regions; and later phases toward custom callers, consensus AI, and production services are roadmap language. They are not results proven by this beta. The Mac client also does not prove that an AI brief was right. It proves that a machine produced a draft, that local software ran a recheck path, and that a signed bundle reached Minos's API.

The catch for AI and blockchain readers is the reward switch. A public miner without live subnet pay is a usability and evidence rehearsal. It tests whether people will install the app, wire their own model accounts, and ship bundles. It does not yet test whether Bittensor emissions can buy better genomic accuracy at scale. That sits next to other DeAI product experiments that also rewrite what a stake or a client is for, such as 0G's path from staked assets into AI compute credits. Until rewards light up for this workload, the Minos Bittensor public beta is a client and a queue, not a paid decentralized science market.

The mental model to keep is simple. Minos is trying to turn DNA variant accuracy into scored subnet work. This Mac release opens the door to a literature-and-evidence prep lane on that path. Watch whether the signed bundles become on-chain scored jobs, and whether those jobs improve real variant calls rather than only the story about them.
