OKEx is the latest crypto industry player to enter into the sporting arena. The exchange will soon be advertising their brand at English Premier League football matches.
Disruptive technology is filtering more and more into our daily lives. Whether it be using blockchain to streamline healthcare processes or cryptocurrencies and distributed ledger technology (DLT) to facilitate cross-border payments, this revolutionary industry is set to stay.
While most citizens in some countries know what Bitcoin is, there are still many around the world or do not. The more that people are exposed to disruptive technology, the more likely they are to want to explore it further and, hopefully, adopt it.
Disruptive Industry Teams up with the Sporting Sector
Some industry experts are looking at combining this innovative industry with a sector that is hugely popular and that continues to grow – sports. Football, or soccer, is a major contributing factor to this popularity and a sport that the industry is already capitalizing on. From teams hoping to issue their own virtual currencies to crypto being used to purchase stakes in teams, it seems to be a mutually beneficial relationship.
In addition, Live Bitcoin News has previously reported on major investment platform, eToro, entering into sponsorship deals with seven English Premier League football clubs. Now, according to Cision, cryptocurrency exchange, OKEx, is also hoping to score on the football field. Its brand will be displayed pitchside at many Premier League games, including matches featuring big names like Liverpool and Arsenal.
OKEx Aims to Score Big with Brand Awareness
The Head of Operations for OKEx, Andy Cheung, shared his excitement at this new venture:
Football is a universal language, it connects and unifies people beyond borders. Blockchain technology shares the same core values. We are very thrilled to see that digital technology is getting more accepted and adopted in the sports industry and we are proud to be part of it. Through the games, we want to connect to the audience, getting them to know more about the applications of digital technology, and we look forward to exploring a longer-term partnership to support the sport.
The platform is also launching its ‘Catch Us in the English Premier League!’ initiative to increase brand awareness even more. Fans who capture the exchange’s digital banner and share it on Twitter will have the chance to win 50 USDT. Fans will have their first opportunity to do this during the AFC Bournemouth and Arsenal match on the 25th of November.
This collaboration comes after OKEx was named as the Cryptocurrency Exchange of the Year at the recent Malta Blockchain Awards.
